Birdhouse Books Loves Vintage Books and Pretty Paper

Hi vintage friends!

I would love to invite you to visit my eBay store, Birdhouse Books.  You can also find me at my blog,   View from the Birdhouse.

My name is Trish.  I grew up in a family that went antiquing on weekends for fun.  Road trips always involved a stop at a little antique store in an out of the way location.   From childhood, I was fascinated with vintage paper - especially vintage Valentines and Christmas cards.

My special favorite, though, is vintage children's books.  I love them!  I have a small collection of vintage picture books featuring dachshund dogs, and some favorite Little Golden Books.  I especially like Little Golden Books with dog stories, Christmas themes, and Eloise Wilkin illustrations.

You'll find all of these things - and a little more - in my shop on eBay.  I've sold since 2003 at eBay and have recently opened a shop at Etsy as well:  Birdhouse Books on Etsy.

Here are a few photos of things you will find at Birdhouse Books:

Vintage Children's Books like this one.  Pictured, Riddles Riddles from A to Z by Trina Schart:

Fun and unique vintage cookbooks, like 75 Glamorous Rice Dishes.  (Yes, rice can be glamorous!):

I love Roadside Americana and always have a selection of vintage postcards featuring motels, restaurants, amusement parks, and old fashioned tourist attractions.

Vintage Valentines!  Don't they remind you of childhood Valentine exchanges at school?

And of course there are vintage Christmas cards that evoke nostalgic holidays from the past:

I've enjoyed chatting with you here and sharing a peek inside my shop.  Hope you have a great day with some fun retro finds!

What is an Ebay Custom Page?

We all have so many things going on an as online entrepreneurs there is never enough hours in a day to get everything done. There are changes on selling sites to keep up with blogging , Twitter , Facebook and of course listing.

Ebay had again made changes which anyone who sells there has to keep up with and one of the choices is Store or no Store. As you check out the differences between a Basic and Premium  store you will see you get 5 Custom pages with a Basic Store and 10 with a Premium Store. Of course now you have no idea what are custom pages and why should you care.

These are important pages for any Ebay seller and you can use them for a variety of things. They can explain something you sell, tell someone why they should buy from you, give important details about a product line and much more.

I have been a race fan all my life and am selling a lot of racing items for a friend of mine so I did my first one on auto racing . I need to get working on the next one and like everyone else just need to make time to do it.

If you are an Ebay seller and have chosen to have a Basic or Premium Store then you need to do your custom pages too.

eBay's On SALE! Did you know?

Did you know that eBay is in the middle of a sale on Auction listings?  Well, neither did I and that's another blog post (eBay's struggles to communicate with their sellers!). But thanks to an alert friend who passed on the information, I now know that ebay is running a 33% off sale on ALL auction listings - doesn't matter the starting price, or the category!

So if you have some items you were planning on listing at auction instead of Store, or Fixed Price, well, NOW is the time!  The sale was announced on the eBay General Announcement page and runs through October 11, 2009. You can visit THIS PAGE for all the details, exclusions, etc.

Janelle Elms, of OSI RockStars, is a great source to stay up-to-date with eBay announcements on her twitter account. the announcement was posted at 12 PM PST and you can see that Janelle had it out there right away!

Now trust me, I could turn this into another post about managing your twitter account - cause I PROMISE you, Janelle is way too busy to sit by the computer and post each and every ebay announcement as they come out. But, just join Rock Stars and you can take the class about putting twitter on automatic pilot too, LOL

Facebook, Twitter and Blogging...OH MY!

And...let's not forget radio shows and webinars!

How do you keep up with all of it?

Today I printed out a weekly calendar for next week...stared at it for about ten minutes and then stuck it up on my bulletin board to deal with later.

"They" say...you need to "get out there". Hit the social network...make yourself into a brand name...see the brand...be the brand....

but....how do you do it all?

How do you keep up with all the blogs you end up creating. There's the one to help you sell things for you EBay or online business....then there the one that you create because "they" tell you've got to get your name out there....then there is the one or two you do for fun. I, personally do one for photos each day www.365daysingeorgia.wordpress.com , but others I know keep up with their grand kids, their crafts, their lives....

Then we have Facebook....articles I've read --- say you MUST, MUST, MUST participate in at least SOME of those pesky applications people send to you. Collect Easter eggs, find out what kind of Diva you are....or just 'poke' someone....GOTTA do it though...it's all about networking...

I haven't even mentioned Twitter yet. The new phenomenon (wow...I spelled it right on the first try!) to hit the internet... 140 characters...and WHAT IS ON YOUR MIND....as of today even the mighty OPRAH is doing it!

Now you're blogging, tweeting and poking people....or you're at least suppose to be....but
I'm having a hard time keeping up with it all. Five blogs (Ebay, Writing, Photography, one I use a writing portfolio, a personal one I've been playing with...and oh...this one....so actually SIX blogs). AND you're also running your online business....maybe even doing radio shows or being interviewed on one yourself...

SO....my question for all of you on this Friday after a long, somewhat unproductive week for me...

HOW DO YOU DO IT???

How do you blog, tweet, poke, talk, listen and STILL get the primary aspects of your business done?

Inquiring mines want to know! Really...we do!!!!

Until next time....(or whenever I realize it's my turn to blog here again....HA-HA)
