Brian Wehrle Still Missing - One Year Later

Hard to believe, but it has been one year ago today since my friend's brother Brian Wehrle went missing. His car was found in Chattanooga last December, but their have been no new leads since then.

Although I expected they would probably do a candlelight vigil, when I talked to my friend on Monday she said that they weren't really planning anything special for today. Sounded like some of his brothers and sisters might have a quiet dinner with his life-partner. A way to let him know they still think of him as part of the family and to provide mutual comfort for all.

Anyway, I'm once again getting the word out that he is missing. Hopefully, someone - somewhere - will remember something or some new piece of evidence will turn up.

Information about a reward and way to contact the police is listed below~

A $10,000 reward is being offered -
Anyone with information on the case is asked to contact Johnson at 770-834-4451 or Det. Joe Shaw of the Chattanooga Police Department’s Missing Persons Unit at 423-643-5055. Callers who wish to remain anonymous can call Crimestoppers at 770-838-7867.

Still Missing: Brian Wehrle

Back in October I mentioned that my friend's brother disappeared.
At the time, I was pretty well convinced that he had taken off on his own. Brian has always been known as the moody type and I could just see him deciding that he needed to go chill out on a beach somewhere and if he was in his "Diva Mood", he would have even been amused that people would be worried about him.
It is May now, however, and he is still missing. His car turned up in Chattanooga, Tennessee a few months ago. It was parked in a Cul-de-sac by an African-American and left there.
The sister that I told you about in my other post, has now been to three psychics. The last one got images that he has "crossed over" and is in a field somewhere. There is a reward for information about his disappearance and at some point America's Most Wanted is going to do a story about him, in hopes that some leads will come in.
I love a good mystery, but being on the fringe of a real one -is a bit surreal to me. I still say all the wrong things (I told you I thought the sister was mad at me... she was). My brain just has too much trouble sorting out that we aren't talking about a television show where all the red herrings and clues are going to bring the killer to justice and closure to the family. I feel the need to analyze everything, wondering why there's not more being done and the mystery writer in me wants to speculate about what happened and who could have done such a heinous thing.
Anyway, the people the family is working with have been told that they need to keep getting the word out. New flyers are being made, the segment on America's Most Wanted will be filmed and aired at some point (there is a backlog of stories to be made...who knew?) and there is now a reward being offered for information.
Below is his information - as mentioned the car has been found, but the real life mystery of where he is and what happened to him, for now, at least...remains.

Usually when someone goes missing and you hear it on the news - you think "hmmm, that's terrible - I can't imagine what that family is going through and you go about your business."
This time though - it has happened to someone I know. Brian is the brother of a friend of mine. She and I have known each other since elementary school. I remember Brian as the typical little brother in the typical family situation. He liked to bug and torment my friend back then as little brothers are known to do. She always got annoyed - he always thought it was funny....your normal brother and sister stuff.
I last saw Brian at my friend's wedding. He was, as usual, making jokes and complaining about being stuck at the wedding reception - but you could tell he was really happy for his sister.
She and I usually talk once or twice a week, so I thought it was odd when I didn't hear from her last week, but she's been planning her son's birthday party and she had some other things going on - so I didn't really give it much thought.
Last night though - someone asked me if I had heard he was missing.
I hadn't.
My friend is one of those people that when things get tough - she retreats to her safe place and just doesn't want to talk about it. I could tell on the phone last night - that this was one of those times.
I'm not sure if I said the right things to her....IS there proper etiquette when some one's family member goes missing? You don't want to treat it lightly and yet you already know that the person you are talking to - is thinking the same thing you are....THIS CAN NOT BE GOOD.
I'm still trying to think positive. Brian can be very moody. I can see him going somewhere to be by himself until he gets over it.
But....she said he didn't take his cell phone with him. He left things out like he planned on returning and he's a neat freak - so even if he was going off to pout somewhere - she doesn't think he would have left things in the house like he did.
Tomorrow - if she calls (I've already tried calling her this morning) - I may be handing out flyer's or helping the family search. Just as I don't know what else to say - I don't know what else to do. I will try to remain positive, for her sake - if nothing else. But...as the days tick off (it was a week ago Weds)....in the back of my mind....I can't stop thinking....THIS CAN NOT BE GOOD.....
